Run up to Christmas

After a good autumn with a couple of nice winners, and a quiet start to the winter, I am looking forward to a few runners before the year is out. hopefully Mr Red Clubs will be running at Wolverhampton on December 18th in an Amateur riders handicap, it is his winning most track! On the 20th General Allenby might take his chance at Kempton in a 1m7 handicap, he was second in a photo here previously and the slower surface will suit him much better than Lingfield last time.
On the 22nd we will hopefully be off to Uttoxeter with Alanjou for a 2m5 Chase and I hope to run an as yet un named Tiger Hill horse in the bumper.

WINNER!!

Gypsy Rider struck at Brighton on his second start of the season, gamely holding off his opposition to win by a head!  I am hoping that this may mean better runs from the other horses who may have disappointed in their first runs this year.
General Allenby runs tomorrow at Lingfield where hopefully a step up in trip may prompt him to show some form. the two year olds have started to up their work and are looking good!

So far this year has seemed to give us pretty incessant bad weather, warmish temperatures and few clear days and only one real short cold snap (enough for Newbury to be abandoned and Alanjou missing out on running) most of our jumpers being ex flat horses are not appreciating this soggy ground as well as lots of meetings being cancelled so we are having a bit of a drought of runners, Rectitude runs this evening over a mile, this is a change of plan from our original route of her becoming a jumper but with her being fit and well having a go at what she was bred for will probably not be a bad thing!

Happy New Year!

It has been a fairly quiet end to 2015 and start to 2016, the heavy ground has made it difficult for my jumpers, most who would appreciate better ground, hence a couple having a go back on the flat on the all weather.
The yearlings are broken in and going well and should be back in the yard for the end of the month if anyone fancies coming and taking a look!
Our next runner will probably be Rectitude back on the flat probably over a mile then Alanjou will have a run over fences within the next three weeks hoping to build on a nice enough debut for us at Ascot last month.

There have been a couple of disappointing runs in the last few weeks, however all of the horses have their own excuses so it hasn't got me too worried! Play the Blues definitely didn't get 1m2f so it is back to 1m for her, Moveable Asset was running against a high class field at Kempton but didn't have a huge amount of zest, a bruised foot has since come to light as well as headgear probably needing to be re applied, Rectitude was running very nicely at Plumpton but faded quickly, she did finish and has had a long layoff so we will see next time how much she needed the run.

Play The Blues runs tomorrow at Wolverhampton in the 4.40, she is in great form having been 4th last time out after a long break, as well as being drawn 2 which is a nice draw. However she will have to put up with an extra furlong to run and hopefully not get caught in traffic but I hope she will be there or there abouts.
Hopefully Moveable Asset will run at Stratford on Thursday in the 2m Novices chase, It looks like it will be a pretty competitive race though.

The two yearling as going nicely and will hopefully have riders on board within the next 2 weeks, it was nice to see another Lawman colt in Marcel winning the racing post trophy at the weekend

Runners

Play  The Blues has come out of her Kempton race well, now is the difficult task of finding another suitable race as now, with the hindsight that her last run has probably put her spot on I am keen to find the right race as I am confident that now she is in top form.
Moveable Asset was a bit disappointing at Kempton on Sunday, although he jumped well, as they went off very quick, he soon found himself without much company, at which point I think he gave up on trying, he has done this over hurdles before so I hope putting the headgear back on next time will help, His jumping seems good enough for him not to frighten himself jumping in visors.

Autumn

It has been quite a quiet few weeks with the National Hunt horses getting into full swing with their work in preparation for the Winter season.
The Flat horses have had a little quiet spell too to re charge them for an all weather campaign.
There are not many races for Gypsy Rider until November but Play The Blues gets underway again at Kempton next Wednesday in the 8.45 1m handicap, she has not run for a while but has gone well fresh before.

Now back on to the jumpers,
Moveable Asset

Worcester yesterday

Moveable Asset
made a pleasing chasing debut at Worcester yesterday in the 2m Novice chase, despite finishing third of four runners, the two in front of him were pretty high class over hurdles and he jumped round well giving the impression that he should be pretty competitive in handicap company.

Gypsy Rider goes to Chelmsford this Thursday evening, I felt that the 6f trip was a bit quick for him on such a sharp track so I have upped him to a mile, one of the gallops in Lambourn is the same surface as Chelmsford and he finds it pretty easy so hopefully he can stay the extra 2f

Moveable Asset goes to Chelmsford on the 8th for his chasing debut, fingers crossed for a good experience!
