I had hoped the good ground and the 2m3f trip at Exeter would give her the best possible chance of a performance, unfortunately the better ground underlined her lack of pace, this mare has been given every chance in bumpers, on the flat and over hurdles by her owners who also owned the dam, and while she is sound and happy and as also she is a good jumper and a nice ride it is time for her to find another job to do
did not go to Exeter as he spiked a temperature a couple of days before, this was a real shame as the race broke up a bit and it would have been the ideal opportunity for him to have picked up a nice prize. There is no real worry as he is a nice horse and there will be plenty of other days for him.
went to Newton Abbot for a 2m1 mares maiden hurdle for her first ever start over hurdles. She looked huge compared to the others in the paddock despite her only being 4 and raced very keenly until into the home straight before fading and being pulled up before the last, she did jump very nicely and is still very much a baby who will continue to strengthen, this was all very much a new experience for her and I still have plenty of confidence in her being nice.
they went far too quick early and had him out of his comfort zone so Freddy sensibly pulled him up half a circuit from home, he is now 10 and while he still has a chance to go and do something else his owners have decided to retire him from racing, he finishes this season with a second and two fourths to his name and goes out while still enjoying the game which is nice as we didn't want to see him not enjoying it.
Despite being very revved up in the stables at Plumpton he ran a nice race first time out over hurdles, running a bit keen and fading a bit but really enjoyed himself and finished fifth, this gives me optimism of him being a really fun horse for jumping, he is for sale and hopefully someone will decide that he would be a lot of fun to own!
